Huitzil from Mexican band PORTER approaches the Spanish conquest from a modern point of view by personifying the decadence (in an explicit manner) that the Mexican social tissue suffers. A present-day where we are no longer conquered by the Spanish conquistadors but by different corporations, politics, mass media and institutions that wear multiple faces and want us to become part of them, part of their ideology and part of their system. A persecution serves as the main narrative element that unfolds this ironic, but very real, conquest. Only to show us, that the real change depends on the power of our own volition.
